Wenn Deramas calls talent manager "alikabok"

Showbiz indeed is very colorful for the past week.

First is the very "gay" rift of John "Sweet" Lapus and Jobert Sucaldito. It was then followed by DJ Mo Twister and Ogie Diaz, exchanging heated tirades with one another.

And the latest one involves popular comedy director Wenn Deramas and the slightly unpopular talent manager Ricky Gallardo.

According to a report received by our "tsismis" radar, the director got furiously mad when the Ricky allegedly pulled out her talent Eula Valdez from the latest drama series being directed by Deramas. The reason of the sudden pullout --- Eula is being paired with alleged lover of Deramas, actor DJ Durano.

And out of anger perhaps, the director gave a derogatory littany against the talent manager:

"Sino kang magtanggal ng casting sa project ko? Mayroon ka na bang kontribusyon sa pelikulang Pilipino? Wala kang karapatan dahil isa kang ALIKABOK!”

Truly very uncalled for on the part of the award-winning director. But hey...what could be the reason why the manager didn't allow her ward to be partnered with Wenn's "lover"?

TV5 fills Sunday noontime with 3 brand new shows

Let's admit it, ASAP on ABS-CBN is the undisputed musical variety show every Sundays. Even GMA's Party Pilipinas paled in comparison with the biggest and brightest stars gathered in one show.

TV5's attempt to make Sunday's noontime musical shows a three-way battle will finally end, as the third-ranked network changes its line-up this coming Sunday. PO5 ended its run last week, and three new shows will occupy the 3-hour block, and shall compete with ASAP and Party Pilipinas.

Anchoring the block on 12 noon is Joey de Leon's newest game show titled Pinoy Samurai. Joining the comedy royalty are Ruffa Mi, Wilma Doesnt and Mr. Fu.

In Pinoy Samurai, 30 contestants will vie for the title of Pinoy Samurai. But the road leading to prestige is rather difficult as they have to pass the Games with an array of obstacles including Tiny the giant sumo wrestler, Godzira the not-so-sturdy monster, Kulang the skinny Barbarian, Princess Hentay, Captains Tamagotchi, Fugo, Sogo and Sushi, the warriors and some other trap designed to put to the test the player’s skills, endurance and determination.

On 1pm, TV5 introduces another lively-variety game show, Lucky Numbers with Eugene Domingo as host. This is the Philippine version of a UK game show from the producers of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.

Lucky Numbers is a fast-paced, gripping show where cellphone numbers can win you a huge amount of money live. The show will generate six magic numbers through a mix of studio surprises and high-energy performances by Jon Avila, Andrew Wolfe, Tres Marias, Biriteras, Jan Nieto, Wendy Valdez and Regine Tolentino and other celebrity guests. To register, home viewers will have to earn two numbers (based on the last seven digits of the cellphone number) from six magic numbers generated. One lucky phone contestant is then selected to participate in the tension-filled money end-game where they can win up to P1 million in cash prizes.

Lastly, on 2pm, TV5 gathers the freshest and brightest teen stars of the network and their fan base for an hour of high-quality entertainment in Fantastik! The network's biggest young stars topbill the show, Alex Gonzaga, Kean Cipriano, Danita Paner and JC de Vera taking the center stage every Sundays. Also included in the show are Princess Ryan, Diane Medina and Carla Humphries with the Sakto Boys --- Rodjun Cruz, Lucky Mercado, Rainier Castillo and Edgar Allan Guzman.

Ryan Agoncillo hints return to acting with ABS-CBN

Talentadong Pinoy main man Ryan Agoncillo revealed that superstar wife Judy Ann Santos will soon return to work, and hinted a possible TV reunion.

In an exclusive interview with The Buzz Magazine, Ryan said that he is not closing his doors with ABS-CBN, after being visibly identified with TV5.

“‘Yung huli naming napag-usapan ni Tita Cory (Vidanes, ABS-CBN Channel Head) walang saraduhan ng pintuan. Tapos na ‘yung contract ko with them at last ko ‘yung George and Cecil. Maganda naman ‘yung paalamanan namin, so, we’ll see.” the award-winning TV host said.

This is a great news for the couple’s fans, especially fans of their last project. George and Cecil is one of Pinoy television’s best written and best acted situational comedies ever. It is a far cry from the usual slapstick comedies we had.

Why not incarnate the Joey Reyes helmed sitcom? This would be great since ABS-CBN doesn’t have a single sitcom on its current programming line-up. It would be best if the Kapamilya network tries the 30-minute format of American sitcoms and build a comedy block on Sunday nights.

Sam Milby denies dating Kim Chiu, Simon Atkins can sigh with relief

In a photo taken during the Manila concert of country music superstar Taylor Swift, Sam Milby is shown with Kim Chiu.

According to reports, Sam and Kim are extra-sweet with each other while watching the concert. Thus, the speculation about the brewing romance between the two kapamilya stars surfaced.

In fact, in the said photo, one could mistake the two as normal lovers who opted to treat the concert a lively, energetic date.

But on SNN, Sam Milby denied the rumor. He clarified that they just bumped with each other in the concert, as they are with their friends. Maja Salvador and Cacai Bautista are with them, the actor revealed.

This "swift" denial could only mean one thing --- DLSU cager Simon Atkins is still on the running on getting the pretty kapamilya drama princess' heart and affection.

And personally, between Sam and Simon, the latter is more "bagay" with Kim. Just leave Sam for Bianca Manalo. lol

Lady Gaga explains egg shell arrival at the Grammys

While wearing a condom-inspired outfit to support AIDS awareness campaign, Lady Gaga graced ABC's Good Morning America and explained her infamous egg-shell entrance at the 2011 Grammy Awards.

According to the chart-topping singer, she placed herself in an oversized egg for three days so she could experience a "rebirth" of positivity. And, she thinks such a rebirth would benefit everyone.

"I was in there for three days," said Gaga. "I was viva glamming for three whole days ... because I wanted to have a rebirth and I think the universe needs to have a rebirth. I think we all need to be inside a vessel for three whole days, thinking about how we can love ourselves more, protect ourselves more, live life with more passion and look not outwards for validation, but inwards."

Gretchen Barretto, Eula Valdez part of 'Mula sa Puso' remake

In a report of Whynotcoconut.com, it was revealed that Eula Valdez will return to ABS-CBN to be part of the reboot of the 90s teleserye Mula sa Puso, topbilled by Claudine Barretto.

And to make the reboot more interesting, Claudine's estranged sister Gretchen Barretto is said to be part of the remake. Gretchen successfully staged a comeback with 2010's most talked-about teleserye and New Yor Festival 2011 nominated Magkaribal.

This is contrary to earlier reports that Gretchen will topbill a teleserye with Angelica Panganiban.

According to reports, ABS-CBN is still holding auditions for the lead roles.

Will Gretchen play the main antagonist role? Or is it Eula?

It's good that Amor Powers has finally returned to the network which propelled her to superstardom!

Claudine Barretto's attitude problem continues with the Kapuso network!

Even before her controversial transfer from ABS-CBN to GMA Network, Claudine Barretto has long been hounded with issues about her attitude problem.

But Star Magic has done all measures to cover up one of its biggest stars from this damaging issue. And Claudine's bratty working attitude became an open secret amongst people she has worked with, a topic seemingly been forbidden to be discusses.

Just after her trasnfer, Claudine's attitude problem were resurrected like a blazing fire. This could just be a demolition job against her. Or it could be because Star Magic is no longer in charge of her career.

And it is because of this attitude problem that Claudine has been long missing in the Kapuso network's line-up. Her latest project, Jillian: Namamasko Po, ended its lackluster run. Prior that, Claudine topbilled her weekly drama anthology which faltered in the ratings game.

She was said offered by her mother network a special role in the upcoming fantasy drama Magic Palayok, but she reportedly declined.

With strings of low-rated shows, it seems Claudine Barretto isn't the Optimum Star as she was before in ABS-CBN, and she's not alone (I'm looking at you Jolina and Camille).

The Kapuso network should do something to revive Claudine, as she is the network's top drama star.

'Okatokat', 'Mula sa Puso' Old Hits to be resurrected

From the success of Mara Clara, ABS-CBN is now slated to remake some of its old hits.

The network already resurrected its successful kiddie fantasy drama anthology Wansapanataym. And it consistently beat its competitor on Saturdays night.

To follow on this winning formula, the Kapamilya network has already announced the reboot of its phenomenal horror-suspense series Okatokat. It was topbilled then by Agot Isidro.

The cast of the upcoming 2011 incarnation of Okatokat are not yet revealed as of writing.

There are also some information received that the network are also in works of bringing back the well-loved teleserye of ex-kapamilya star Claudine Baretto. It has been revealed that Mula sa Puso will grace primetime sometime this year, and rumor has it that Shaina Magdayao will reprise the lead role.

So what other classic kapamilya teleseryes you'll want to be remade?

ABS-CBN daytime rating woes continue!

The country's most watched network is now GMA. That is according to the latest comparative ratings results from Kantar Media.

New shows from the Kapamilya network failed to topple rival shows from GMA Network. Happy Yipee Yehey, ABS-CBN's latest forray in noontime programming failed to gain supremacy in its viewer-rich timeslot. This has previously been a kapamilya turf during the Wowowee era, and ended with the oust of Willie Revillame from the network.

The return of Kris Aquino on TV didn't even make a huge impact, as it has continually been defeated by rival drama Bantatay from GMA since its premiere. The show even fell way below its initial telecast, widening the gap between Bantatay.

The Kapuso network nearly swept daytime, with its impressive line-up of locally-produced dramas, Eat Bulaga and the phenomenal Korean drama Temptation of Wife. Even GMA's morning movie programming is victorious against the talent-variety program Showtime.

The only "pakunswelo" to ABS-CBN is its wide gap on primetime.

But wait, gaining daytime supremacy has been the first step undertaken by the Kapuso network during its bid on becoming no. 1 in Mega Manila, which they did! So does this mean that ABS-CBN's nationwide supremacy could end soon?

Here's the data on February 17:

Banana Split Daily Servings (6.9%) vs. Love Ni Mister Love Ni Misis (6.3%)
Showtime (11.9%) vs. Kapuso Movie Festival 'Tunay Na Magkaibigan Walang Iwanan...Peksman!' (12.3%)

News channels are now on free TV

It seems that television broadcast in the Philippines has come to a new age.

With the greater need by Filipinos of news and information, the country's number two and three networks has announced the launch od its respective news channels on free-TV, with TV5's Aksyon TV just commenced its telecast this morning.

AksyonTV is a 24-hour all-news and sports channel managed by PLDT-owned network's news and public affairs group. The channel will air shows simulcast from Radio Singko, the network's radio arm, and some from TV5. This is a sort of an hybrid of ANC and DZMM TeleRadyo.

On the other hand, the country's most awarded news organization will also start its broadcast on February 28, 2011, replacing its lifestyle channel Q, which bid goodbye today. The channel will deliver the Kapuso network's best and strongest brand to a whole new level, giving more airtime and better slots to its critically-acclaimed documentaries and other public affairs shows.

Unlike ABS-CBN's ANC, these channels being on free-TV will have wider reach and coverage, bringing important news and deliver national concerns and issues to more homes nationwide.

On a personal note, GMA News TV is highly promising since the Kapuso network has long been known in their newscast and documentaries. The channel could definitely give ANC a tough competition.

But I can't say the same with AksyonTV. I was even wondering why TV5 ventured immediately on creating a news channel when its flagship channel is still a far third in the ratings. The resources used for AksyonTV could have been used in producing more shows for TV5..just my two cents!

GMA News TV is available on channel 11 in Metro Manila, and channel 28 in Cebu and Davao. AksyonTV will be seen on channel 41 in Metro Manila, while it occupy channel 29 in Davao and Cebu.
