It seems that the Kapamilya network is banking on family shows on its primetime as evidenced by the success of recent dramas like May Bukas Pa and Agua Bendita --- shows which depict and reflect the strong bond of Filipino families.
Now, a Casper-inspired show courtesy of Momay joined the Primetime Bida blocked and as expected, ruled its timeslot and made immediate impact upon its premiere.
The show s being topbilled by the child sensation Xyriel Manabat, who got popular by portraying the young Agua and Bendita.
Premiere drama actres Lorna Tolentino is also in the cast as mother to Momay with Glydel Mercado as Momay's greedy aunt.
The pilot episode isn't that explosive as most primetime fantasy shows are. The show opened with Momay's happy family, a loving father played by veteran actor Joel Torre (who's role would die eventually due to cancer) and a caring, devoted mother as portrayed by Ms. LT.
The lead child star is definitely a gem --- an unpolished gem at that. ABS-CBN did a great job in finding another child talent that could captivate the hearts of young and adult viewers alike.
What I love about Xyriel is that she throws her lines in a seamless manner that you won't feel it was being memorized. The little girl is very natural and truly gifted with charm and talent. In fact, I would placed upon Xyriel the credit of how Agua Bendita became the current number one primetime show.
Momay is a simple drama. But it is poised to instill values on love and family to viewers as Momay's ghost is set to change the lives of many through her sweet and genuine demeanor.
Seeing how a project topbilled by a child star fare so successfully on the ratings game, I won't be surprised if Zaijan will be back on primetime soon.
I will give Momay a 4-star!!!^_^
