Is it now Kim Chiu vs. Erich Gonzales?

As ABS-CBN is cooking up new shows for 2010, it is striking to note that two young actresses topbill this new anticipated shows.

Erich Gonzales, after the success of her launching primetime show Katorse, will not leave primetime as she will star in Tanging Yaman. Touted already as the new obra maestra, the teleserye is expected to be the new toprater as it is being helmed by the creators of Tayong Dalawa.

On the other hand, Kim Chiu will return to primetime after the success of the phenomenal Tayong Dalawa. Her new show is Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo, which is truly star studded with Ms. Kris Aquino as part of the cast.

It seems that the battle on primetime supremacy will center on the network's primetime princesses. Which show will rate higher? Who will prevail? Kim Chiu or Erich Gonzales?

It seems ABS-CBN already found the Judy Ann Santos and Claudine Barretto of the new generation.

Why not give Sarah Geronimo a teleserye?

Sarah Geronimo is a superstar in her own right, a very successfull concert performer, the reigning box-office queen, multi platinum albums and a huge loyal fanbase.
But why is it ABS-CBN is not banking on her for a teleserye on primetime TV.

Her last teleserye Pangarap na Bituin received an average rating as it was pitted against Marimar, but the show became a finalist in the regional qualifier for the International Emmy.

Bituing Walang Ningning, her first teleserye rated high, both in Mega Manila and in the national survey, reaching the no. 1 spot.

But why oh why? Is it because ABS-CBN doesn't trust Sarah in terms of acting? Or is it because the network decided to groom their homegrown talents for primetime rather than Sarah who is a VIVA talent?

PBB Double Up: Voting will change!

After the unexpected nominations of all the housemates for eviction and the one time only "vote to save" format, PBB Double Up announced on primetime that the voting process will change after the house merge.

According to reports, PBB Double Up will run for 18 weeks, the first 9 weeks will comprise two competing houses and the remaining 9 weeks will be for the merged houses.

As the housemates now under one roof, the voting process will also change.

The voting system is adopted from the Big Brother Finland, the Positive (Plus)/Negative (Minus) Voting Sytem.

In this way, viewers can vot for our housemates in two ways.

First, we can vote for our fave housemates to save them from eviction, it's the Positive/Plus vote.

On the other hand, we can also vote to evict other housemates by giving them the Negative/Minus vote.

To get the final number of votes, just subtract the negative votes from the positive votes.

Example:

Housemate Mariel
Positive Votes 10,000
Negative Votes 500,000
Total Votes (490,000)

So there will be a posibility of a negative result for a housemate!!!

PBB Double Up: Melissa and Jason love saga begins

Christmas is fast approaching and love is in the air. The Pinoy Big Brother house has witnessed the budding romance of housemates Melissa and Jason as their first ever date inside the house was pushed through in last night's episode.

The first attempt went vague as Big Brother decided to test the sincerity first of Jason as to assure not to hurt Melissa in the process.

But last Saturday, housemate Jason finally was given the chance to spend quality time with Melissa.

Together with 3 other housemates who are already in House A after the merge, they climbed the wall of House B complete with ninja costumes and abduct Melai for a surprise of her life.

At first, Melai was terrified with the abduction but eventually realized that the intruders were the other housemates and Jason is waiting for her at the garden whom had just prepared a fancy picnic.

The two began a conversation full of their funny antics and obviously catching up for the two weeks they have been living on different houses.

Jason then decided to cut short the chasing game and immediately revealed to Melissa the purpose of his visit. Fortunately, Melissa gave him a big "Yes!I like you". Upon hearing this, Jason took in the courage to admit his true feelings for Melai.

The two ended their date with a romantic kiss on Melai's cheek. Jason first attempted to mimic the kiss ala Spiderman but found it difficult to execute.

Jason and Melai are now aware of their feelings for one another, so what's next in store for them in Pinoy Big Brother? Stay tune...

Aljur & Kris immitate Kim & Gerald

It is now very evident that they are being groomed by GMA Network to compete with teen superstars Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu as rising kapuso stars Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal went as far as doing a production number in SOP similar to the sensual dance number that Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu did in ASAP two weeks ago.

It seems that the kapuso loveteam is immitating the kapamilya teen titans.

Kim and Gerald did a sensual dance in the tune of Mariah Carey's I Wanna Know What Love Is.

While Aljur and Kris did another sensual dance number with Aljur eventually going topless at the next half of the said number.

So which pair got the 'it' factor? Which is more sensual?

Angel Locsin is John Lloyd's top choice --- no Kim Chiu!

Box-office King John Lloyd Cruz recently signed a three-film contract with ABS-CBN's film arm Star Cinema. The actor is truly in-demand now in movies since he is currently the country's most bankable actor with all his recent films grossing more than a hundred million.

During the contract signing, the actor was asked of the actresses he wanted to star in a movie.

The actor named Angel Locsin as his top choice.

Angel and John is reported to topbill a primetime teleserye slated to air on the second quarter of 2010.

“Good thing na gagawa kami ng soap next year, ‘di ba ‘yung trend kapag gumawa kayo ng soap gagawa rin kayo ng movie?” John Lloyd said. “So baka mangyari din ‘yon with Angel.”

He also mentioned Sarah Geronimo who was paired with him in the highly successful A Very Special Love and the highest grossing Filipino film of all time, You Changed My Life. The actor is hoping to have a third installment of the Migs-Laida love saga.

Lastly, the actor also wants to be paired with KC Concepcion.

Apparently John Lloyd didn't name Kim Chiu.

In a recent SNN poll, Kim Chiu has received the most number of votes as to whom John Lloyd should next be paired.

The actor is currently focused in their reunion movie with Bea Alonzo entitled Miss You Like Crazy.

Is Kim Chiu not that good in terms of acting as compared to Angel, Sarah and KC?

PBB Double Up: Housemate Yuri is the latest evictee

A highly intense night was witnessed as the latest evictee from the Pinoy Big Brother was announced by host Toni Gonzaga. From the five, only one was voted by the people to leave the house.

From the five, the transgender Rica was the first to be safe followed by Carol.

Obviously, Melissa will be saved but the show decided to defer the announcement of her being safe to make the night's episode more exciting.

And the latest evictee, is housemate Yuri.

Hermes is the last housemate to join the merged houses of A and B.

The votes of the viewers said it all. Yuri is out. This is very hurtful, obviously, as the people voted for you to go out the house one will feel truly unwanted.

The total percentage of votes are as follows:
1. Yuri - 26.52%
2. Mariel - 22.94%
3. Carol - 17.25%
4. Hermes - 9.80%
5. Rocky - 7.01%
6. Sam - 4.67%
7. Patrick - 3.90%
8. Rica - 1.60%
9. Cathy - 1.58%
10. Kath - 1.52%
11. Melissa - 1.08%
12. Tibo - 0.74%
13. Jason - 0.60%
14. Paul Jake - 0.46%
15. Johan - 0.32%

As you could observe, majority of the housemates of House A received low votes, Melissa being the only female housemate in the bottom 5. This shows that House A is preferred by the viewers as opposed with the more good-looking housemates of House B.

One by one, the names of those safe were revealed and were instructed to officially move to House A.

But when only Carol, Melisa, Hermes, Rica, and Yuri were left in the confession room, Big Brother declared that they will have to wait until tomorrow night to find out who among them will be evicted.

Temporarily, the remaining five were asked to stay in House B make the most out of what could be their last day in PBB. Who among the five will lose the chance of taking part the house merge?

Michael V., 'Project Runway' runners up in Asian TV Awards

The Philippines wasn't able to bring home a trophy in this years Asian TV Awards. But the country's wasn't totally empty handed as two entries eventually won runners up.

GMA Network's Michael V. won Highly Commended for the category Best Performance by an Actor in Comedy while SBN's Project Runway was also Highly Commended for the Best Adaptation of an Existing Format category. The reality program is a production of Solar Entertainment.

The country got eight entries this year, but got snubbed. Only two runners up for the Philippines, which ironically, is the leading Asian country in the International Emmy Awards.

Better luck next year!

By the ways, I was able to watch a sictom from Singapore's Mediacorp and it is good. It kinda reminds me of the old sitcoms we have here in the Philippines, that was before soap operas got the foothold on primetime programming.

The sitcom Under One Roof is being aired on TV5. It was dubbed in Filipino. The show reminds me of ABC's 2009 freshman sitcom Modern Family. Under One Roof was a winner of Asian TV Awards' Best Comedy Program in 1996 and 1997, and a finalist on the same category in the International Emmy Awards.
