Gu Jun Pyo of 'Boys Over Flowers' undergoes plastic surgery?

He's so handsome that there's no question why Filipino tweens and girls can't help but adore him and scream whenever he appears on our television screens. Lee Min Ho who played the F4 leader Gu Jun Pyo has been a certified "crush ng bayan".

His growing number of fans in the country can be attributed to the impressive ratings of 'Boys Over Flowers' in Metro Manila and in the national survey.

But with his growing popularity, Lee has been subject to several rumors. It has been speculated that the F4 hunk underwent a plastic surgery to enhance his good looks.

A website even posted pictures of the actor and two surgeons who have conducted the said operation. The actor allegedly had his eyelids doubled and even enhanced his chin.

But a rep of the Korean actor denied this allegations, stating that the actor's good looks are all natural.

Instead of a plastic surgery, Lee underwent a surgery on his knees after a vehicular accident. Metals and pins were put inside his knees and is scheduled to be removed this June after several postponements due to the actors busy schedule.

The actor is currently improving his singing skills since he admitted that among the Korean F4, he is the one who could not really sing.

ABS-CBN throws a ‘pa-burger’ party

ABS-CBN celebrated its record-breaking sales and number one ranking with a “pa-burger” party for all its employees. After a thanksgiving mass, ABS-CBN employees were treated to a salu-salo of cheeseburgers, apple pie, and sodas. Charo Santos-Concio opened her heartfelt congratulatory speech by shouting, “Number 1 tayo!” On behalf of Gabby Lopez, she expressed their gratitude to all the employees.

“ABS-CBN is the only media company which is included in the Top 15 Corporations awarded with Good Corporate Governance. Also, we have obtained a record-breaking revenue of close to 1.4 Billion pesos for the month of May.”

Santos recalled the hard times and reminded people of the phase ABS-CBN lost its leadership. “Nagpapatunay lang na ang mga leksiyon na natutunan natin sa ating pagkakadapa ay nasa puso nating lahat. Tandaan natin na hindi ito para sa atin, para ito sa publikong sinisilbihan natin.”

She attributed the success to the values Kapamilya employees live with. “Nakakatuwa po sa puso dahil sa lahat ng pag-renew natin ng ating values—value of excellence, the value of meritocracy, teaching and learning, the value of honesty and integrity, ito pong mga values na ito ang nagdala sa atin sa pagiging number one.”

Charie Villa, ABS-CBN Head of Newsgathering, shared the secret of this success. “Alam niyo po, ang sikreto diyan ay ang pagmamamahal sa trabaho. Pag sinabing public service, tatakbo at magpupuyat. Maraming-maraming salamat, iba talaga ang ABS-CBN!”

The pa-burger salu-salo was held simultaneously with the ABS-CBN Regional Network Group in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Expenses drag down ABS-CBN, as GMA net rises amid modest revenues

Revenues of the Philippines' two leading broadcasting companies grew moderately in the first quarter this year despite weak advertising spending, but their bottom-line diverged as higher expenses dragged down ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.'s profit while GMA Network Inc. cut down on costs.

In a briefing, Rolando Valdueza, chief financial officer of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Co., said its net income fell 21 percent to P191 million at end-March from P242 million in the same period last year.

Valdueza blamed the decline on SkyCable's losses for the period as well as the drop in airtime revenues.

Valdueza said SkyCable posted losses of more than P18 million in the first quarter.

ABS-CBN's revenues rose 24 percent to P5.29 billion, including SkyCable's contribution of P878 million.

But its expenses rose a faster 28 percent to P4.95 billion from P3.88 billion last year, with this year's general and administrative expenses jumping 53 percent to P1.71 billion from P1.11 billion year-on-year.

In contrast, the company cut its production costs 4 percent to P1.45 billion this year from P1.51 billion last year.

ABS-CBN's consolidated airtime revenues of P2.76 billion also dropped by 2 percent from the same period last year. For Channel 2 alone, airtime revenues slipped 5 percent to P2.52 billion, with advertising minutes declining by as much as 20 percent.

Valdueza said the decline in airtime revenues started last December and extended to February this year.

"From January to April, our airtime revenues fell by only 4 percent from 5 percent in the first quarter. From January to May, we expect a negative one, if not flat," he said.

For the full year, airtime revenues are likely to be flat or slightly higher than last year, he said.

Main rival GMA recorded a 10.4-percent growth in its earnings at P501 million from P454 million last year.

Its gross revenues for the first three months rose by 3 percent to P2.65 billion despite the contraction in advertising spending. Earnings from its TV and radio units continued to lead the pack with a 91-percet share in the gross revenue pie, despite posting a modest increase of 1 percent to P2.42 billion.

The profit hike came amid a 5-percent increase in production costs and a 7-percent up tick in its general and administrative expenses.

Unit QTV Channel 11's airtime revenues climbed 38 percent during the period, while airtime revenues from radio operations increased by 17 percent to P68 million.

Unit GMA International recorded a 56-percent jump in subscription revenues.

The network said QTV's contribution to gross revenues went up to 3.6 percent this year from only 2.7 percent last year. Its radio and international businesses also increased to 2.6 percent and 7 percent, respectively.

Channel 7's revenue contribution however fell to 85 percent from 88.4 percent in the same period last year.

Felipe Gozon, GMA chairman and president projected a more than P2.8 billion in net income this year from P2.37 billion last year.

"I think we will exceed our target this year," Gozon said, adding that from May 1 to 13 alone, the company booked about P934.6 million in sales for Channel 7 alone.

GMA said it posted a 5.1-percent increase in advertising minutes in the first quarter, better than ABS-CBN's 18.8-percent drop during the same period.

Feliper Yalong, GMA chief financial officer attributed the increase to its ratings dominance in Urban Luzon.

"A huge part of the total market is in Luzon, where we have been consistently ahead of competition in TV ratings. In fact, in April, even while we increased our rates, we remained ahead of ABS-CBN in advertising minutes," Yalong said.

ABS-CBN, however, claimed that national TV audience measurement of Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) showed its total day ratings increasing from 16 percent in February to 18 percent in April, against GMA's 13 percent to 14 percent.

ABS-CBN also said its total day audience share has been at 44 percent between February and April, while GMA's rating has gone down from 37 percent to 35 percent in April.

ABS-CBN dominates nationwide, GMA rules Mega Manila (May 26, 2009)

After the media frenzy with regards to the undying "ratings war" between the country's Big Two networks, SHELU89 decided to post the larger National Ratings provided by TNS, and the advertiser's favorite Mega Manila area from AGB.

With TNS' nationwide ratings, ABS-CBN swept all the timeslots with its shows trumping its respective rivals, from daytime to primetime. Kris Aquino's 'Pinoy Bingo Night' saw a ratings win against its new rival, Japanese series 'One Liters of Tears', both nationwide and in Mega Manila.

ABS-CBN's latenight showbiz news program 'SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon' also benefited the lead-in's ratings increase as it surges its recorded figures and also consistently defeating its rival shows.

National Daytime shows ABS-CBN's noontime show and daytime drama serials ruling the airwaves, with 'Wowowee' at the top of the game. But GMA's sinenovelas proved worthy rivals as it registered close figures to its rival kapamilya shows.

Fan makes case for Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to take matters of important movie casting into one's own hands, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that a geek make a kick-ass YouTube video. Such is the case with this fan-made trailer for Green Lantern "starring" a fanboy favorite.
The Green Lantern film has been in development hell for many years, but Warner Bros. is finally looking at a 2011 release. But who should play the lead character Hal Jordan, a man who comes into possession of a special ring that grants him superpowers? The Hangover's Bradley Cooper and Star Trek's Chris Pine have been bandied about as possible options, but one fan has another choice: Nathan Fillion.
Fillion is, of course, the former star of Joss Whedon's Firefly and current leading man in ABC's Castle. And after seeing this very unofficial trailer--which splices together bits and pieces of other films and TV shows to make a convincing promo--we think he'd make a great Green Lantern.

Queen pondering 'Idol's' Lambert as frontman

"American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert's performance with rock band Queen on the finale of the TV singing contest this week has the British band thinking about a new front man.

"Amongst all that furor, there wasn't really a quiet moment to talk," Queen guitarist Brian May told Rolling Stone in an interview released on Friday.

"But and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with at some point. It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there," May told the magazine in an e-mail exchange.

Speaking separately, Lambert also reached out to May.

"Queen is one of my all-time favorite bands, I would love to work with him," he said in a conference call with reporters on Friday.

Queen, one of the biggest rock bands of the 1970s and '80s, has not had a permanent frontman since the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991.

The English band recently ended a four-year partnership with Paul Rodgers, the former lead singer in the bands Free and Bad Company.

Lambert, 27, dubbed "Glambert" by fans, lost out in the "American Idol" final to Kris Allen. But his vocal skills and flair for the dramatic made him a good fit for performances with both Queen and glam rockers KISS in the show's finale on Wednesday.

KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons was less effusive about musical theater actor Lambert in the wake of the "Idol" final.

"Respectfully, I don't think Adam is a rock singer," Simmons wrote in a question-and-answer post on his website.

"He sounds much more convincing singing ballads, and Broadway shows," Simmons said. "His voice doesn't seem to have a 'rock quality.' But, I'm sure he's going to do just fine."

Adam Lambert didn't really make Clay Aiken's ears bleed

Clay Aiken says blood didn't truly pour forth from his ears when he heard runner-up Adam Lambert sing "Ring of Fire" — and hey, he's sorry for his "colorful choice of words."

The former Idol contestant writes in a blog on his Web site dated Friday that "I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard." He also says he didn't mean it as "a 'slam' on Adam as a person."

He had blasted Lambert's take on the classic Johnny Cash tune as "contrived," ''awful" and "slightly frightening." Aiken says he hopes Lambert can forgive him — but adds Lambert probably doesn't care about what he said.

Aiken lost out to Ruben Studdard in 2003. He's since released several albums, appeared on Broadway and publicly confirmed he's gay.

GMA Network expresses support to Katrina Halili

As sexy star Katrina Halili is trapped in the middle of a media circus with regards to a sex video where she and celebrity doctor Hayden Kho are the lead stars, her mother studio GMA Network expressed its unfaltered support to one of their prized homegrown talents.

In an official statement, the Kapuso network said "GMA Network supports Ms Katrina Halili in her fight for justice. The network is confident that she will emerge from this episode a better, stronger person. GMA continues to trust her as an artist and awaits her return to do the projects lined up for her."

Ms. Redgie Magno, GMA-7 Senior Program Unit Manager and Ms. Redgynn Alba, GMA-7 Program Unit Manager both expressed words of support for the young actress.

According to Miss Redgynn: "For me, she should not take this issue like it's only for her. She should consider all the other girls, not only those victimized by Hayden, but also those other girls. Probably innocent young girls who, just like her—I'm not judging—but you know, did a lot of mistakes, or who were foolish enough to fall in love and probably have sex. But the things is, the crime here is nobody should be videotaping you.

GMA Network also expressed confindence that the sex video scandal will not affect the advertising sales on shows on which Katrina will be casted. The network already has several shows lined for their controversial talent.

One rumor even said that Katrina Halili will be the next 'Valentina' on the new 'Darna' remake which will star her screen nemesis Marian Rivera. The two have already worked together in thr hit 'Marimar' remake where they played mortal enemies.

'Idol' winner Kris wants respect, Adam eyes stardom

This is our 1000th post! Thank You for Visiting SHELU89!
"American Idol" champion Kris Allen said on Friday he just wants respect in the music industry -- but runner-up Adam Lambert has stars in his eyes.

Allen, 23, an unassuming college student from Arkansas, was this week named the winner of the TV singing contest, defeating the more showy Lambert, who was the presumed front-runner.

"The only thing that I really want to do is just be respected in the music industry," Allen told reporters in a conference call. "And whether that means selling albums or winning Grammys or people just liking your music, that's what I really want to do."

The win gave Allen a guaranteed record contract with 19 Recordings and its affiliated labels. He said he planned to release a CD soon after the U.S. nationwide summer tour of this year's top 10 "Idol" contestants.

Songs from both Allen and Lambert from the "Idol" season are already in the Top 10 of the iTunes music charts.

Allen, a guitar and piano player who started writing music six years ago, said he and his wife of eight months, Katy, talk a lot about how his newfound fame could affect them.

"Things are definitely going to change, but we're really strong and she's really cool so we don't have any question that everything's going to be fine," he said.

For his part, Lambert sees a future full of opportunity. He said he has talked to record company officials about the kind of album he hopes to make if, as widely expected, he is signed by a label.

Many Lambert fans expect the contestant nicknamed "Glambert" to try to revive 1970s glam rock after his performance with bands KISS and Queen on the show. But Lambert does not plan to make rock his sole focus.

"I don't want to do one specific genre," said Lambert, 27. "I'm more about fusion, I kind of like adding little elements of things into the final mix."

Lambert, from California, said he would like to work with guitarist Slash, who served as a guest mentor on "Idol," and with Queen guitarist Brian May, with whom he performed in the show's finale.

A former cast member of stage musical "Wicked," Lambert said he has no immediate plans for Broadway but would also like to act in a movie.

"In the heyday of Hollywood, artists got to do everything. They did music and they did film. And I would love to go that direction," he said.

Vicky Belo admits doing own sex video with Hayden

Popular cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vicky Belo on Friday admitted that she also made a sex video with her former beau, Dr. Hayden Kho.

In a press conference Friday night, Belo's lawyer Adel Tamano said her client was forced to make the admission after the sex video of her tryst with Kho started circulating on the Internet. Rumors about the alleged sex video started after Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. revealed that Kho had made 40 sex videos of his trysts with various women including sexy actress Katrina Halili.

Tamano said the sex video was created using a computer with a built-in webcam. He said Belo agreed to shoot the video provided that it would be deleted immediately.

"This was a purely private video between two consenting adults...She didn't say she felt betrayed pero ganun na din," Belo's lawyer said.

Tamano said Belo asked Kho's friend, Eric Chua, to confiscate Kho's hard drive upon learning that Hayden did not delete the sex video. He said Belo also admitted that her company, the Belo Medical Group, owns the hard drive where the videos are stored.

Belo confirmed that there are other sex videos stored in Kho's computer but denied that she had a hand in circulating the same on the Internet. "She did not release these videos and in fact she is very saddened by what has happened. She condemns the release and circulation of these videos," Tamano said.

Tamano said his client will submit an affidavit to the National Bureau of Investigation to explain her side in the controversy. Belo, Kho and Chua have been summoned by the NBI after the sex scandal was first exposed.

Belo said she and Kho remain friends but are no longer together. The popular surgeon earlier had a public falling-out with Kho after learning that he had affairs with other women.

Olivia Wilde Is So Sexy Even Megan Fox Wants Her

Olivia Wilde is not only one of television's hottest break-out stars, but she is also the woman Megan Fox has described as “so sexy, she makes me want to strangle a mountain ox.”

While it has to be quite an honor, Wilde, 25, says she is a little skeptical of the recent girl-crush fad, but is passionate about animal rights and willing to do what it takes to keep them safe.

In the June 2009 issue of GQ magazine, on newsstands May 26, she jokes, “of course, anything I can do to save the mountain ox, I’m happy to do,” in response to the suggestion she make out with Fox to save the poor little ox.

ut being sexy and crusading for animal rights isn’t all this rising star can do – she has also worked on presidential campaigns, has been a public advocate for increasing international aid and gay rights and she has raised money for Doctors Without Borders.

To top all that off, she is also a real-life princess. Really, we’re serious. She tells GQ at the age of 18, she eloped with an Italian prince.

It wasn’t enough to be rich, beautiful and sexy. Had to go and be a princess too.

Alec Baldwin is apologizing for making a joke about getting a Filipino mail-order bride that provoked a sharp response in the Philippines.

The Emmy-winning actor quipped during a May 12 interview on "The Late Show with David Letterman" that he would love to have more children and that he was "thinking about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point ... or a Russian one."

On Wednesday, Baldwin posted on The Huffington Post that he was apologizing "to anyone who took offense."

He said, "I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such."

Actress Lucy Gordon Found Dead at Age 28 in Paris

British actress Lucy Gordon, who appeared in "Spider-Man 3," was found dead in her Paris apartment after apparently committing suicide, French police said Thursday. She was 28.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, though it appeared to be a suicide, said an official with the Paris police headquarters. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of police agency policy, gave no details.

Gordon, who would have turned 29 on Friday, appeared in a dozen films, including as reporter Jennifer Dugan in "Spider-Man 3." She portrays British singer and actress Jane Birkin in an upcoming biopic about Serge Gainsbourg.

Gordon's father said the death was a "complete shock."

Speaking from the family's home in Oxford, Richard Gordon told Britain's Press Association that his daughter was "a natural actress all her life, since she was about 2."

"She's always loved being on stage and in front of the camera and she has kept all her naturalness and charm all the way through. She has been the most beautiful daughter. We are obviously devastated."

He said she loved her latest role, in the Gainsbourg film, and thought the cast was "wonderfully creative and supportive."

He added that his daughter spent much of her childhood and her summer vacations in France and was bilingual. She recently moved to Paris after living in New York.

Gordon's agents did not return phone calls seeking comment Thursday.

Woman Claims She Had an Affair With Carrie Prejean's Mom

That Miss California crown may be still firmly affixed to her head, but controversy won't stop swirling around Carrie Prejean and her family.

That Miss California USA crown may be firmly affixed to her head, but controversy won't stop swirling...

Valerie Vetrano, an openly gay sales rep from Corona, Calif., claims she had a lesbian relationship with Prejean's mom, Francine Coppola.

"I did date her," she told ABCNews.com Wednesday evening. "I'm not going to deny it, but I'm not going to say anything else."

Vetrano, whose connection to Coppola was first reported by Star magazine, declined to comment on how long their relationship lasted but confirmed it ended "a couple weeks before Carrie Prejean was in the Miss USA competition."

According to an unnamed friend quoted by Star, Coppola's family knew nothing of her affair, although during her 1996 divorce from the beauty queen's father, Wil Prejean, both parties made gay allegations against the other.

Prejean ignited a fire storm of scrutiny following the 2009 Miss USA pageant in April.

When asked whether she supported same-sex marriage by pageant judge Perez Hilton, Prejean replied, "I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what? I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

While Hilton and others condemned her handling of the question, the 22-year-old beauty queen defended herself via multiple media outlets and church guest stints. Though she appeared in a PSA for the National Organization for Marriage, which campaigns against the legalization of same-sex unions, Prejean insisted she wasn't close-minded. She told "Access Hollywood" that her sister is a gay activist.

"My sister is a second lieutenant in the Air Force and she is a gay rights activist," Prejean said, adding that her sister is not gay. "She supports gay people, she supports gay marriage. My beliefs have nothing to do with my sister or my mom, or whatever."

Adam Lambert was judges' favorite, but he was never a lock to win

Watching the “American Idol” finale, all 127 minutes of fluff-packed filler, a casual viewer might be forgiven for assuming Ryan Seacrest announced the winner first, instead of in the last few minutes.

That’s because it was Adam Lambert’s show. In between appearances by contestants and auditioners we’d thankfully forgotten, such as Norman Gentle, Kris Allen did a duet with Keith Urban.

Adam Lambert, however, performed a duet with KISS, and after the curtain flew away, the stage transformed into an explosion of pyro and lights. It was a signature Adam
performance: over-the-top, loud and in your face.

Later, for their final song, Kris and Adam performed a duet, singing “We are the Champions.” Queen joined them, and at times it seemed as if Kris just left the stage, with Adam’s voice and stage presence dominating.

As so many “Idol” evenings have been this spring, it was Adam Lambert’s night.

So it was at least a little surprising when, in the final few moments, Ryan Seacrest announced that Kris Allen was the actual winner. Even Seacrest pointed out that it was a surprise, saying that “the underdog, the dark horse, comes back and wins the nation over.”

The look on Kris’ face suggested he was surprised, too. “Are you freakin’ serious?” he said, adding, “Adam deserves this.”

Check your conspiracy theories at the door
Kris’ victory, however, is not an upset, and shouldn’t have surprised him. It is not absolute evidence of a conspiracy or bigotry on behalf of bigoted anti-Adam voters, even if there were, tragically, some of those.

Certainly, many arguments will be made in the next few days about how it was possible that Kris Allen, despite being an extremely strong singer — especially in the last few weeks — could have beaten Adam Lambert, who was clearly the favorite all season long. The judges loved Adam, the studio audience loved him, and the producers seemed to love him, frequently giving him the pimp spot and otherwise not-so-subtly favoring him.

Promoting him certainly made sense for the aging reality show, and was deserved, because Adam was a contestant and performer unlike the show has ever seen. He may scream and he may not sing everyone’s favorite type of music, but he owned the stage and each and every performance. More importantly, he made every song his own, as the judges often beg contestants to do; finally, in Adam, they had a living example of what they were talking about for all these years.

Adam Lambert fans don’t need to fret; not being the winner may actually work in his favor. For starters, he doesn’t have to release that melody-less song “No Boundaries” as his first single. Whatever success he would have had as the winner will come to him now, and he may even get more attention because of the perceived upset.

All the evidence one needs to realize that Adam was never a lock to win came three weeks ago, the night Matt Giraud was eliminated.

On their way to the final two, both Adam and Kris found themselves in the bottom three only once, and they were there together, on that night. In other words, neither was even close to being the front-runner that week.

Did the Gokey voters switch to Kris?
There’s plenty of similar examples, starting with the fact that last week, just one million votes separated Kris and Adam. That was the week that Danny Gokey was eliminated, and if you’d bet back in January or February that Kris would beat Danny, never mind win the competition, you would have been an idiot.

Danny Gokey was an early favorite, and look where he was during the finale: he had no chance of winning, and instead was singing awful group numbers with musical guests who probably couldn’t believe that they were being forced to perform with the “American Idol” finalists.

A similar outcome happened last season, too, although on a less epic scale, when presumed favorite David Archuleta lost. The night before the finale, Simon Cowell all but declared Archuleta would win, since he performed better than David Cook. In addition, little Archie even had the teenage girl vote, the conventional wisdom said.

But that wasn’t accurate, as both Davids found out one year ago.

Figuring out why people vote or who they’re going to vote for is nearly impossible, especially with nearly 100 million votes coming in Tuesday night alone. And interest in a contestant — Adam Lambert got lots of press, especially for his not-so-ambiguous sexuality — doesn’t necessarily translate to votes. A person can Google a contestant or even download their songs on iTunes without ever picking up the phone to vote, especially if they presume that person is a lock to win and therefore doesn’t need their vote.

Ultimately, “American Idol” is never quite what it seems, and one of the reasons why it’s the No. 1 show in the country, is its ability to surprise — and viewers’ ability to surprise themselves.
