ABS-CBN to remake "Galema, Anak ni Zuma"
From the creative minds of director Ben Yalung and writer Jim Fernandez, the story is about mythical creatures with snakes attached to their bodies. This was serialized by Aliwan Komiks from 1976 to 1984. In 1985, a film was made from the said komiks with Max Laurel cast as the evil Zuma and Snooky Serna as his kind-hearted daughter named Galema. The movie was followed with its equally successful sequel "Anak ni Zuma".
It is not yet sure if this will be a primetime series since there are already many shows pending for airing in ABS-CBN's primetime block. This might be a good daytime series, though, daytime is best for soap operas and heavy drama series.
One can observe that ABS-CBN has been buying rights of movies with unconventional plots, stories and even titles to be serialized. From "Kambal sa Uma" to "Galema, Anak ni Zuma". This is far from the rival network's attempt to secure the rights of film titles which are mostly heavy dramas.
