Marian booed in Cebu

Yes! And it's true!

Marian Rivera was booed by the Cebuanos during the Sinulog celebration. This has been a rumor circulating in the web until a concrete evidence was found.

A local tabloid in Cebu published a story about the incident. The article goes like this as translated by Showbizjuice.

From Laiza of Liloan…

Ry!

Hahaha! ..From Debra of Lahug…

GMA-7 to air second season of Pinoy Idol

Executives at GMA-7 network dismissed rumors that they would no longer renew their contract with Fremantle for the second season of reality singing search Pinoy Idol, an offshoot of the hugely successful American Idol franchise.

Executives at GMA-7 network dismissed rumors that they would no longer renew their contract with Fremantle for the second season of reality singing search Pinoy Idol, an offshoot of the hugely successful American Idol franchise.
She said the first season had been “very, very successful” and received “great feedback” from their American partners. In contrast to its very poor reception both in Mega Manila and nationwide. The show lose to its rival programs amidst its popular platform and concept.

Galvante said Pinoy Idol remained the reality singing competition to beat in the Philippines as evidenced by its impressive ratings during its entire run. If losing nationwide is already impressive, then so be it.

She attributed the show’s success to host Raymond Gutierrez’ smart and spontaneous way of hosting, saying: “In fact, Ryan Seacrest was impressed with his hosting style and even adapted it for American Idol.”

Jericho Rosales is Betty's new man

On its new season, I Love Betty La Fea will add a new character that will bring new twist and conflitcs to the already colorful life of Beatrice Pengson, the ugly duckling protagonist which will transform into a beautiful swan next week.

The latest addition to Primetime's nationwide no. 1 show is Jericho Rosales. After his successful soap "Kahit Isang Saglit", Jericho will have a head-on ratings collision with ex-girlfriend Heart Evengelista as Betty La Fea will move to an earlier timeslot, occupying the vacated slot od Dyosa. Betty's old slot will be given to Kimerald's "Tayong Dalawa".

Being casted in "I Love Betty La Fea" gives Echo the chance to finally work with John Lloyd Cruz. As early as now, many are looking forward to seeing the acting showdown between the two as they fight over Betty. But Jericho said he has no intention of upstaging John Lloyd in their scenes together.

Watch Betty La Fea this Monday and see Betty's transformation.

'The Office,' '30 Rock' Get Renewed

NBC's schedule will be smaller next season, but there will still be room for " The Office," "30 Rock" and "The Biggest Loser" in the post- Jay Leno world.

The network announced Thursday (Jan. 15) at the TCA press tour that it's picking up all three shows for the 2009-10 season. None of the orders is much of a surprise; "The Office" is NBC's top series among adults 18-49, "The Biggest Loser" has turned in reliable ratings against stiff competition this season and "30 Rock" is the two-time defending Emmy winner for best comedy series.

New NBC Entertainment chief Angela Bromstad also says "Heroes" is "very secure," although there's no official announcement of a renewal in the offing.

The rest of NBC's current shows, though, could be facing a tough path to renewal for the '09-'10 season. With Leno set to take over the 10 p.m. time period every weeknight, the network will have five fewer hours for its other shows. Bromstad says that while she's a fan of shows like "Chuck" and "Life," she wants both "quality and ratings" from the network's lineup going forward.

NBC is also planning to order about 10 pilots this year, Bromstad says. "We'll have to look at our pilots and the whole landscape of options" before deciding what stays and what won't make the cut. The schedule will also open up a little bit in early 2010, as "Sunday Night Football" gives way to a night of entertainment programming.

That said, Bromstad -- who formerly headed up Universal Media Studios -- also notes that she knows how tough it is to bring a quality show together. Therefore, a good show with a passionate fan base, even if it's not huge, "is not something I'd cavalierly toss aside."

"Eva Adams" is American "Lalola"

Rhea Seehorn, who's played a number of supporting roles on TV in recent years, will step up to the lead in a FOX pilot.

Seehorn ("The Starter Wife") will play the title role in "Eva Adams," about a male sports agent who finds himself turned into a woman. She joins James Van Der Beek ("Dawson's Creek") and David Denman ("The Office") in the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Eva Adams" is based on an Argentinean series called "Lalola." It centers on a guy -- named Adam Evanson, in this case -- who comes under a witch's spell and becomes a woman, who then has to endure all the sexism he formerly dished out.

Kevin Falls ("Journeyman," "The West Wing") is writing the pilot and will executive produce with Jamie Tarses.

Seehorn had a recurring part on "The Starter Wife" this season. Her credits also include ABC's "I'm With Her" and FOX's "Head Cases."

ABS-CBN defends Dyan Castillejo

ABS-CBN broke its silence and defended sportscaster Dyan Castillejo on many negative write-ups brought to her during her interview with Manny Pacquiao on one of the Peoples' Champ's parties.

On defense, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications realeased its official side on the afforementioned issue:

Aside from Manny Pacquiao, Dyan also interviewed NBA MVP Kobe Bryant, golf living legend Tiger Woods, former boxing king Floyd Mayweather Jr., bowling legend Paeng Nepomuceno, billiards champ Efren “Bata” Reyes and UFC star Chuck Liddell.

'Prison Break' Stops Running

They've broken out, been the subject of a manhunt, been imprisoned and broken out again. Now the run for "Prison Break" is at an end.

FOX announced Tuesday (Jan. 13) during its TCA press tour session that "Prison Break" will end its four-season run in the spring. The final episodes will debut Friday, April 17.

The show's final season has followed brothers Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), along with a Homeland Security agent ( Michael Rapaport) working to take down the Company, the shadowy firm that initially framed Lincoln and set the whole thing in motion.

This season felt like a natural end point for the show, FOX Entertainment chief Kevin Reilly says: "To keep it going was going to be, creatively, really stretching the concept."

That said, Reilly thinks the show's producers "have a really cool ending" in mind for the finale.

The final run is currently set for four episodes. Reilly says there's some chance a couple extra episodes could be tacked on, but the network hasn't confirmed them yet.

'American Idol' Opens to 30 Million Viewers

That's down from last year's premiere but still pretty darn big!

The return of "American Idol" catapulted FOX to the top of the ratings Tuesday, while it looks like CBS may have found another "Idol"-proof show to go with "NCIS."

FOX averaged a 15.8 rating/23 share for the night, comfortably beating CBS' 10.2/16. NBC was a distant third at 5.6/9. ABC, 3.7/6, came in fourth, while The CW came in at 1.2/2.

FOX completely dominated the adults 18-49, drawing an 11.6 rating and beating the combined total of the other four nets. CBS took second at 3.5, followed by NBC at 3.3. ABC averaged 2.3 and The CW 0.8.

The season eight premiere of "American Idol" scored a 14.5/22 for FOX at 8 p.m. "NCIS" did its usual strong business for CBS, earning an 11.3/17. "The Biggest Loser: Couples" (5.0/8) held up reasonably well for NBC. "Homeland Security USA" put ABC in fourth, while "90210" managed only a 1.5/2 for The CW.

"Idol" improved to 17.1/25 at 9 p.m. The premiere averaged just a shade over 30 million viewers, which is down about 10 percent from last year but still makes it the biggest non-sports broadcast of the season so far. "The Mentalist" held onto nearly all of its lead-in audience, scoring an 11.1/16. "The Biggest Loser" rose to 5.8/8 in its second hour. An hour of "Scrubs" got smacked by the "Idol" train, averaging a 2.8/4. "Privileged" finished the night for The CW.

CBS moved to the lead at 10 p.m. thanks to "Without a Trace," 8.0/13. "Law & Order: SVU" posted a 6.1/10 for NBC, and "Primetime: What Would You Do?" delivered a 4.6/8 for ABC.

Hilary Duff Is 'Barely Legal' at NBC

NBC's talent deal with Hilary Duff has borne some fruit, as she's set to star in a comedy project at the network.

Duff has taken the lead role in a show called "Barely Legal," a show about an 18-year-old who passes the California bar exam and becomes the state's youngest attorney. The show is based on the true story of Kathleen Holtz, who passed the bar in 2007.

The project currently has a script commitment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Elisa Bell ("Vegas Vacation," "Little Black Book") is writing the project, and actor Rob Morrow ( "Numb3rs") is executive producing through his company Bits and Pieces Productions.

Duff signed a talent deal with NBC in November. "Barely Legal" would be her first starring role in a prime-time series, although she's guested on shows like "Frasier" and "Joan of Arcadia" in the past.

The show is the second project about a young female lawyer on NBC's development slate this year. The network also has "Legally Mad," a David E. Kelley dramedy about a law-school grad (Charity Wakefield) who joins her father's firm.

ABS-CBN to show Pinoy version of Wipeout

According to a very reliable source, ABS-CBN recently bought the rights of another Endemol show to produce its own Pinoy version. It is said that the Philippine media giant bought from Endemol USA the hit summer game show from ABC entitled Wipeout.

The show is from the creative mind of Matt Kunitz, also the executive producer for NBC's Fear Factor a few years ago.

Wipeout is a Japanese inspired show similar to 'Sasuke' and 'Takeshi's Castle'. But according to its creator, its Fear Factor inspired with a mix concept from America's Funniest Videos. At present, Wipeout has already 20 versions worldwide that latest addition is the one ABS-CBN is planning to produce. If this would be finalized, the question is who will its host?

Edu Manzano has Pilipinas Game KNB? and 1 vs. 100 which is on the line waiting when it would be shown. Kris Aquino and Cesar Montano will have Pinoy Bingo Night and The Singing Bee Season 3 respectively.

Feud brews between Janet Jackson and Beyonce

Beyonce Knowles may want to think twice before she takes another jab at the Jacksons. According to the National Enquirer, Janet Jackson “blew up” when she heard what the “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” singer had to say about her family.

“I grew up upper-class,” Knowles recently told OK magazine. “Private school. My dad had a Jaguar. We’re African-American, and we work together as a family, so people assume we’re like the Jacksons. But I didn’t have parents using me to get out of a bad situation.”

Cue the feud, as Jackson considered those fighting words, according to an Enquirer source.

“Janet wanted to know why Beyonce had to mention her family,” the insider said. “They're not friends and barely know each other. She feels Beyonce went out of her way to tell the world she's from the upper class and the Jacksons were like a bunch of dirty gutter rats.”

Now Jackson’s allegedly ready to set the record straight and give Knowles a piece of her mind.

“Not only is Janet telling everyone who will listen that Beyonce has a lot of growing up to do and that she needs to stop trying to impress everyone, she's planning to confront Beyonce herself and read her the riot act,” the insider added.

Sanjaya returns with new music, memoir

One of “American Idol’s” most memorable alums is coming back in a big way.

Sanjaya Malakar, who was known as much for his big hair and personality as for his mediocre voice on his unsuccessful “Idol” Season 6 campaign, is about to release some new music — and a memoir.

The music comes in the five-song “Dancing To The Music In My Head” EP, which will be released on January 20, according to Amazon. The songs include the smooth ballad “A Guy Like Me” and the Latin-tinged “Rainy Days.”

His memoir is the similarly titled “Dancing To The Music In My Head: Memoirs Of the People’s Idol,” and follows the former top 10 finisher from his pre-fame days to his rise through the reality competition to life after “Idol.” The book is also due on January 20, from Pocket Books.

Season 8 of “American Idol” debuts on FOX on January 13 with live feeds on Q Channel 11 in the Philippines.

Rihanna taking no wardrobe risks for Malaysia show

The good girl gone bad has promised to be good for one night.

R&B sensation Rihanna will shun skimpy outfits when she performs in Malaysia next month, the concert's organizers said Tuesday, becoming the latest international star affected by the Muslim-majority country's strict rules on performers' dress.

Recent concerts by Gwen Stefani and Avril Lavigne faced protests by conservative Muslim Malaysians over immodest clothes. Stefani eventually made what she called "a major sacrifice" at her show by donning attire that revealed little skin.

Under government guidelines, a female performer must be covered from the top of her chest, including her shoulders, to her knees.

The organizers of a Pussycat Dolls concert in 2006 were fined nearly $3,000 after the U.S. girl group was accused of flouting decency regulations.

The Malaysian organizers of Rihanna's Feb. 13 stop on her "Good Girl Gone Bad" tour voiced hopes that protests would not mar the Grammy-winning singer's show.

Rihanna's management is "aware of the country's regulations and the difficulties of doing a show," Razman Razali, managing director of Pineapple Concerts, told The Associated Press.

However, a district branch of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, which blasted Lavigne's on-stage moves as "too sexy" last year, said in an online commentary that Rihanna was "sexier and more dangerous" than Lavigne.

Concert ticket Web site Axcess said sales for Rihanna's show in a 16,000-capacity Kuala Lumpur stadium were selling briskly Tuesday, just hours after newspapers announced the event.

Rihanna, 20, has had a slew of hits since bursting onto the music scene in 2005, including "Umbrella," "Pon de Replay" and "Unfaithful."

Taylor Lautner will see 'New Moon'

It's been a trying time for some fans of TWILIGHT. First came news that Catherine Hardwicke would not be calling the shots on NEW MOON, the second film in the series.

Then rumors swirled around Taylor Lautner, who played Bella's somewhat shy would-be beau, Jacob: The buzz was that Lautner (formerly of Grand Rapids) would be replaced in the second film.

But Summit Entertainment has now confirmed that Lautner will return to the role of Jacob in NEW MOON, which Summit hopes to have in theaters by Nov. 20.

Those familiar with Stephenie Meyer's novel know that Jacob undergoes some of a change in NEW MOON (the title should offer something of a hint), so Lautner will be getting a considerably meatier role the second time around.

And, in case you were worried, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are definitely locked in to play Edward and Bella. NEW MOON will be directed by Chris Weitz.

Angel Locsin, Sam Milby to star in "Buhay ng Buhay Ko"

Instead of a remake, Angel is set to do an original teleserye with hearthrob Sam Milby entitled "Buhay ng Buhay Ko". This soap opera will be Angel's first heavy drama TV series as she already starred in a string of fantaserye lead roles.
